Description This photo was taken in September 2021. This cub and mother was the only family unit we saw on our trip. The bears fished for salmon based on the tides. As the pacific ocean tides went in and out the stream off the beach of Cook Inlet would lower and rise. The bears would gather along the banks of the stream waiting for the water level to lower making it harder for the salmon to swim. The often laid in the sand or in this case on a log until the water level was just right and then they would begin to fish.
