This photo was taken in Jasper, Alberta in the fall of 2022. I was out photographing the elk in rut. A bull elk had a small group of females with him in a small meadow. I had been observing the elk for a while when I spotted some movement in the grass off to the side. As I watched slowly a coyote become visible in the long grass. I stayed motionless as the coyote zig zagged across an area searching for small rodents. I was able to take a few photos while not disturbing the coyote. It eventually made its way to the forest and disappeared.
