A special encounter

The last weekend of January I had the privilege of photographing a great gray owl as it was out hunting. I observe and anticipate the flight path of owls quite well allowing me to usually get 3/4 front on shots of owls in flight as I deliberately avoid being directly in an owl's flight path. However, what happened on this encounter was unexpected and very special.
