We had set out with our tour leader intent on reaching the kopjes to find lions. As we traveled, though, I watched the clouds forming and the darkness gathering behind us.
Our tour leader continued ahead in another vehicle, but I encouraged our driver to stop. I had been looking for a dramatic sky, and I knew the photograph I wanted was unfolding behind us.
Against the approaching storm, the wildebeest continued across the grasslands, persevering through whatever nature placed before them, living beneath a gathering sky.
