Agro was one of the most skilled bears I watched at Lake Clark. She understood the movement of the tides and knew where to search for food, whether she was hunting salmon in the streams and rivers or moving through the open coastal waters in search of flounder and other fish.
In this moment, she stood in the ocean watching the water around her, alert to every movement. Her success came from experience, patience and an intimate knowledge of the coastline—the tides she knew.
