A Winter's Walk Limited Edition Print

Location: Lac La Biche, Alberta, Canada

On a cold winter morning near Lac La Biche, I encountered this porcupine while searching for great grey owls. It appeared to be returning to its den after a night of foraging in a nearby field. Anticipating its path, I positioned myself where the field met the forest and waited.

Lying in the snow in −20°C temperatures, I watched as the porcupine slowly made its way toward me. Twenty minutes later, it passed through the narrow opening I had anticipated. I captured only five photographs before it disappeared into the forest, but the moment was worth the wait.

The five print sizes offered for this series were specifically selected to allow for easy framing while providing options to suit a variety of different spaces and budgets. Each print includes a white border and is signed and numbered by me. Every limited-edition print comes with a Certificate of Authenticity and a Letter from the Artist in which I share the story behind the photograph.

Printed on: Each print is produced on either Hahnemühle Photo Rag 308 or Moab Entrada Rag Bright 300. Both are premium cotton fine-art papers selected for their soft surface, subtle texture and exceptional reproduction of detail. Their matte coatings produce rich tonal depth, deep blacks and beautifully controlled contrast, making them especially well suited to the monochrome photographs in this collection.
