Known to the locals as Agro, she was one of the most beautiful bears I have ever seen. She was also the subject of Morning Glow, another of my most highly awarded images.
Agro was a skilled hunter who understood the tides at Lake Clark. She knew that at low tide, salmon could become trapped on the sandbars near the mouth of the stream flowing from the inlet. She waited for the right moment and then moved into the river to hunt.
